Description
PVDF Powder Coating. PVDF Primer.
FLUOPLAST Primer III is a powder-primer especially developed as a base coating for Fluoplast Topcoat.
The primer is based on PVDF (Polyvinylidenedifluoride), providing an optimum adhesion between the substrate and the topcoat.
FLUOPLAST Primer III is applied with classic electrostatic spraying equipment.
A layer thickness between 100 and 200 microns is advised.
The curing of the powder occurs by the residual heat of the preheated parts.
The preheating occurs in a suitable convection oven at a temperature between 260 °C and 270 °C.
In order to obtain optimum adhesion between primer and substrate it is indispensable to shot blast (with corundum for stainless steel and aluminium) the substrate prior to powder application. The shot blasting has to result in a surface roughness of SA 2 ½ and a Rmax of 60 to 80 microns.
The adhesion characteristics of the coating are checked after application of at least 1 extra layer of topcoat.
After cutting through the topcoat and hammering around the cut, the topcoat will not disbond from the primer layer.
Excellent adhesion is obtained on steel and stainless steel.
