 However, epoxy powders are susceptible to over curing in direct fired gas ovens (more than 95% of all installed ovens in the powder coating industry are direct fired gas ovens). This sensitivity may lead to adhesion defects of the finished film coating. |
| The technology behind the second generation of primers is based on the epoxy system but is modified to prevent an undesired ultra hardness of the surface (which can lead to inter coat adhesion loss), in the same time however minimally reducing the protection of crude steel compared to pure epoxy. These modified epoxy primers allow the curing of pieces and constructions made out of very diverse substrate thicknesses. |
