August, 2016
In 2010, Protech/Oxyplast introduced PE40 Ag-kote™; a TGIC free, low bake, anti-gassing, polyester powder coating ideal for exterior applications. At the Surface Exposition in Holland that year, PE 40 was chosen by ION as the most innovative product in the field of surface treatment and since then, the product has established itself in the galvanized steel market, the architectural aluminum segment, ACE treatment and in a myriad of other powder coating applications. There is wide acceptance for these products as the PE 40 Ag-kote™ has all the European certifications for both the steel and architectural markets—GSB for steel and aluminum, Qualicoat Class 1 and Qualisteelcoat (SZ2, HD1, and HD2, MS1 and MS2).
In all the certified two-layer systems, the low bake modified epoxy primer EF36 is the product of choice, compatible with PE40 Ag-kote™. This reactive primer, with a broad curing window, was developed especially for heavy substrates prone to degassing. All the above mentioned quality certificates on one single product, makes PE40 Ag-kote™ a very unique product in the European market.
The PE 40 coatings are now available in a sandtex finish. This line of powders, PE42 ST, is Qualicoat Class 1 certified and is available for indoor or outdoor applications.
Currently our R&D is pushing the boundaries of “low bake” or “fast cure” in order to meet more stringent requirements and open new markets. To that end, we have developed the following new products:
• Low-bake super durable coatings meeting Qualicoat Class 2, GSB Master and AAMA 2604. Full properties obtained with curing schedule of 10 min. @ 160 ° C.
• High-speed coil coatings with reactive polyester resins. These powders have increased performance and benefits over wet paint alternatives.
Polyester powders for thermo-sensitive substrates such as composites and engineered plastics.
