Description

Polyester Powder Coating. Rust Effect Sandtex Finish. (1st Coat)

Our 2-component system : DT511MK8200 (first layer) & DX511MK8201 (second layer)

Oxyplast developed a unique imitation of iron rust on the basis of outdoor resistant binders and pigments. The product contains two components.

You obtain the rust effect as follows.

For an optimal adhesion and corrosion protection the correct pre-treatment must be applied. The choice of pre-treatment depends on the type of substrate, the condition of the substrate to be coated and the lifetime expectancy. You can refer to the Protech – Oxyplast Anti-Corrosion Risk Matrix.

The first component, reference DT511MK8200, is applied on the pieces like any other powder, with or without an automatic installation and this with full high tension (100 kV) and a layer thickness of min. 80 µm. The distance of the guns between the pieces may be rather close to create overcharge of the powder. The greater the back-ionisation in the first coating, the greater is the rust effect. Especially on the borders and the sharp parts there will be first of all small pinholes. They give a better effect and a rougher surface.

Without melting the first coating in the oven, the second coating is quickly applied (with fast movements) on the first one. Powder reference of the second component is DX511MK8201.

Due to the excellent formulation of the two components, it is almost impossible to spread the second powder smoothly on the first one. The powder particles of the second coating will be attracted to the craters and the borders. During the curing of the two coatings by 10 minutes / minimum 200°C temperature of the object, the effect is increased.

After cooling, the pieces have one by one a unique coating which is a good protection against corrosion.

ATTENTION: We cannot give any guarantees about the colour stability between several lots. Even within one lot, there might be colour differences if you spray a thinner or a thicker layer.
